The Templeton Emerging Market Equity Fund has increased its investment on Hua-mi Technology this year. Due to the epidemic disaster in Wuhan, China, Hua-mi Technology gave its user physiological data from 2017 to 2019 to Zhong Nan-shan Research Institute for analysis. They discovered that through basic heart rate data and variation, the correlation between the infection rate of the epidemic can be deduced. Furthermore, it can be predicted 11 days in advance that there will be a sharp increase in the number of new cases in the region, and the health care system can be deployed in advance. The same correlation can be drawn to the same conclusions on user data from Spain and Italy. In the past, monitoring respiration and heart rate was used to understand a person’s health condition. But now, it is used to predict epidemic infections, marking a major milestone in the application of physiological data.
From the global fight against the epidemic to the coexistence with the epidemic, ADE is one of the manufacturers that benefited from this global crisis.
In the beginning of 2020, the epidemic hits and many borders are in control or lock downed. Fever detection for large amount of people is in huge demand, in which the infrared thermal imaging camera produced by ADE fits this demand and quickly supplied to the market. Our Body Temperature Scanner sales grow 10 times and revenue grows 20 times.
For the post-epidemic era, “telemedicine” and “distance monitoring” will become the focus in the healthcare and medical field. This means that the future health management will move from individuals to groups, from single diagnosis to big data prediction. The demand for ADE’s non-contact physiological data monitoring system has also increased by 15 times in an instant.
In March of this year, Taiwan Business Weekly magazine published an article topic “Zero-Contact Business Opportunity is coming “and ADE was interviewed. Among the four industries that have benefited from the epidemic, including “telemedical care,” “distance learning”, “remote work”, and “food delivery”. From what we have seen in these growing industries, we can say that the key feature is “distance”. These opportunities were bred by the fact that people are scared of close contact with others or need for quarantine isolation. The report pointed out that the growth potential of related technology and medicine will be the greatest.

ADE R&D team started from image visual processing to thermal sensor temperature analysis and life sign radar for respiration and hear rate detection. The technologies adopted are all focus only on non-contact means via different sensing methods to achieve Data Collection and presented by simple graphics. In the era of normalization of the epidemic, by using this non-contact monitoring systems, the risk of cross-infection between care givers and care recipients can been greatly reduced.
ADE released the world’s first non-contact 3-in-1 physiological sensing system call Hexagram at the 2018 public media conference. We all know that Vital Signs includes body temperature, respiration, pulse, and blood pressure, which are the most direct indicators of whether the body is in a healthy state. So far, we have successfully achieved zero contact detection for three of these vital signs
The demand for such system have started for livestock health management applications. This includes cattle and pig farms in China, Japan, and Taiwan because of fear for African swine fever and for cattle health management.
After 3 years of field verification, Hexgram will be installed in negative pressure isolation rooms in Kaohsiung Medical University and Shin Kong Memorial Hospital this year.
The 2021-style brand new 3-in-1 sensory care system combined with intelligence back-end solutions are fully designed in accordance with the needs of bedside health services. Starting in Q4 this year, we began to install in domestic health care institutions at all levels.
Through the changes of these three life indicators overtime, long-term collection of big data, we can prevent incidents of sudden deaths and conditions can actually be detected and treated earlier.
In addition to physiological information, a bedside behavior analysis program will also be launched in early 2021. Not infringing on privacy, it can effectively prevent accidents such as bed falls and notify care givers at first notice.
